McGruff Safety Camps, will celebrate their 30th anniversary in 2018. The camps began in the summer of 1988 and have continued every year through a joint effort between the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and Loudoun County Fire and Rescue.
Registration for this year’s camps begin at 9 a.m. on April 16.
The two-session camps run from 8:30-11 a.m. and 12:30-3 p.m. Children entering kindergarten and first grade will learn about topics such as fire safety, bicycle safety and 9-1-1 emergencies. Throughout the week, children will have an opportunity to meet police officers, K-9 units and get a chance to see police and fire & rescue vehicles.
Camp dates:
- June 25-29, Countryside Elementary School, 20624 Countryside Boulevard in Sterling.
- July 9-13 and July 16-20, Evergreen Mill Elementary School, 491 Evergreen Mills Road in Leesburg.
