Loudoun County is hosting three informational meetings in April to provide homeowners with details on the Loudoun County Home Improvement Programs and how to apply for them. Interested residents are invited to drop in at any time during the sessions, which are being held between 10:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on:
- Monday, April 16, 2018, Gum Springs Library, 24600 Millstream Drive, Stone Ridge
- Tuesday, April 17, 2018, Ashburn Library, 43316 Hay Road, Ashburn
- Wednesday, April 18, 2018, Purcellville Library, 220 East Main Street, Purcellville
Repairs and renovations that can be made through the Loudoun County Home Improvement Programs include correcting code violations, addressing health and safety issues and making the home more energy efficient. Repairs may be made for plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems and interior/exterior components. All work is performed by licensed, bonded and insured contractors. The three programs are:
The Emergency Home Repair and Accessibility Grant Program: The program assists homeowners who are at least 62 years old and/or have a household member with a disability. The program is available countywide to homeowners with income that is at/or below 50% percent of the Area Median Income (AMI). Fifty percent of the AMI for a family of four is currently $55,150. This program grant is forgivable.
The Loudoun County Home Improvement Program (LCHIP): The program provides loans to renovate and repair the primary residence of low-to-moderate income homeowners. Eligibility for the program is determined by income. Loans are awarded based on credit worthiness. Household income must be below 80% of the Area Median Income. Eighty percent of the AMI for a family of four is currently $88,250. The LCHIP loan has a ten-year term and may be forgivable or interest free.
The Loudoun County Home Revitalization Program (LCHRP): The program serves homeowners in neighborhoods east of Route 15. Eligibility for the program is determined by income. Loans are awarded based on credit worthiness. Household income must be below 100% of AMI. One-hundred percent of the AMI for a family of four is currently $110,300. The LCHRP loan has a 10- or 20-year term with a 0 to 4% interest rate.
