The lottery for tickets to the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is now open and ends at 10 a.m. (ET) on Monday, October 10.

On December 1, 2016 the National Park Foundation and National Park Service will present the 94th annual National Christmas Tree Lighting. Popular entertainers and a United States military band add to the celebratory evening when the President of the United States lights the National Christmas Tree and brings a message of peace to the nation and world.

An American holiday tradition started by President Calvin Coolidge in 1923, the National Christmas Tree Lighting is a great example of the countless ways there are to #FindYourPark. The 2016 ceremony takes place on the Ellipse at President’s Park, one of America’s more than 400 national parks. It is presented by the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation.
